from my previous thread on where do you store the fishing rods in caravans i thought someone who is in Victoria maybe interested in this idea for storing their fishing rods on their caravan.

I noticed this idea on ebay:

Caravan Storage Box to suit 1985 Jayco Item number: 330189759808

If I was in the area I would pick it up for myself.

I looked at that item, a bit bulky for me for right across the back. At only 2 mtrs long you would still have to use 2 piece rods and split them, and leaving reels and tackle on a few split rods could end up more of a tangle in the container than a couple of tin lids could manage on a river bank. Good idea though, obviously worked for someone. Good luck, we are all still waiting for the right solution. Cheers from Fred.

You still can't beat a 100mm "bazooka" to secure the rods.

Why would anyone wish to leave the reals on anyway?
That's no way to protect expensive fishing gear. I always remove the real from the rod and wash with fresh water, dry them, then place them in a canvas "backpack" bag along with other tackle.

It doesn't take that long to "tackle up" and I generally use new traces each trip. You only need a little nick in the line and you risk loosing a fish you spent hours hunting.

My bazooka mounts to the roof racks and has lockable end caps to keep "honest" thieves at bay. I can open the tube from either end to select the "weapon of choice".
A 100mm pressure pipe will hold around 6 rods.

In fact the "bazooka" is so good, I have mounted another one inside the Camper trailer up high, on one side which contains the annex poles. This beats the bloody canvas bag which asways ended up at the bottom of everything else.

Look up "Caravan additions" on www.australianoutdoors.com under "Georges Corner", a good rod carrier there you can make yourself, cheap, strong, secure and it's done.
