has anyone had any experience with advancing the timing of the fuel pump on the 100 series 1hz. i've heard that the timing in the 80 series 1 hz fuel pump is earlier and more power can be gained in the 100 by setting the timing to be the same as the 80 series.

I have a '97/1hz. trayback.
Some years ago I advanced the static by timing by 2deg. I also derated the full fuel by 1/3 turn (back) on the pump.
The result was :
It pulled better at around 2000revs.
It no longer blew black smoke out at 2000revs. (or any other time)
The fuel economy, recently did 17000km. around ozz towing a 14'6" van averaged 15.4l/100km.
It has just turned over 200000km.
But too much advance can be fatal, beware!
