I have an '06 3l patrol, and tow a 2.5 t van with it, and would like to fit cruise control. I have read (probably on this forum) that Nissan did not fit cc to these Patrols because of some conflict or inconsistency in the interface between the cc system and the engine management system.

Can one of you please confirm or explain?

Do the after-market cc systems, like Autron, suffer the same problems?

Thanks in anticipation

I am not aware of the reason Nissan chose not to install but I have an Autron on my 3l Patrol and it performs faultlessly.

Shop around for prices as installation on mine varied like $400

I've had the Autron on my last two nissans, a 3L T/D navarra and now the 3L Patrol. Never a problem. I towed a tambo camper trailer (not quite a 2.5 tonne van but...) 40,000 km last year and used the cruise most of the time. No issues. Cheers. Mick

Ditto for me ,, mine is a Command with a remote sensor on the stearing,,Brilliant !

Actually its my second command, the first was our old Commodore, fitted in '95, and still working a treat in 2003 when I got the Navara

But I would never contemplate towing with cruise on.

Cheers

Don't get me wrong, I love my criuse control, but under normal driving conditions, ie dry, no hills, and not towing, to get the control I want, over the vehicle, and a feel for the conditions, under foot, I choose not to use a cruise control.
My Navara is a manual, ( naturally )
My Commodore was an auto

Its basically the same reason I do not use cruise in the wet, or hills, CONTROL. I do not want too much power biting in, at the wrong time. In my early experiences with cruise, I have had both vehicles step out ( rather seriously ) on corners

Hope that explains my reasons
Cheers Mate

Thanks for that feedback, Bucky!

Do any other Forumites have some advice on the use of cruise control when towing?
