I am interested in buying a couple of blind spot mirrors for the ute, not for towing, just for general use. Everything I've seen so far looks sort of ell cheapo, Auto pro, repco & so on. Any suggestions from you on anything thats better would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Barry,

Go to the fish markets and get a few fish eyes they would work great I reckon. Only a cockroach would do it though LOL

Thanks for the advise Kev. It made me think that maybe one of those big bulging cane toad eyes would give a better result. Do you have any to spare?

Bucket Loads, Barry, Bucket Loads

You may have to ask the King Toad if you can use them though

I have used those ell cheaps for years what I do is peel those little adhesive tapes of the back and then silicon the fish eye on.
I hold the thing in place until it goes off with tape wich is about an hour or so.

all the best

Whenever I replace my vehicle I always buy the small cheap stick ons and put one on the outside edge of the driver's mirror (don't need one on the off side).
If I can see anything in it, then it is in my blind spot about to pass me. I can't see anything in the normal part of the mirror nor the rear view mirror on the windscreen at this stage.
I don't like the large concave mirrors as everything is distorted especially distance.
The little buggers never come off despite several trips to the cape, corrugations etc.

Agree with you OnYaBike about !!! I don't like the large concave mirrors as everything is distorted especially distance.!!!
My wife has one on both sides factory fitted to her new Toyota full size mirrors, passengers side yes but drivers side, should be banned extremely dangerous and have written to Toyota. The passengers side is fine especially if in a lane of traffic and cant see behind due to say a truck and want to get over but is a pain in the you no where when reversing up my driveway into the garage I dont get proper vision or distances. Yes I have driven many semis and rigid trucks over the years and have never had a truck without normal mirrors, they either add a smaller convex stuck to the factory mirror (usually at the bottom) or a convex mirror added underneath seperatley. I am sure there are many truck drivers on this site who would agree with me saying that trying to reverse with just a convex mirror is virtualy impossible unless you have huge amounts of space either side of you. As yourself when I had the hilux I just had a cheapie small one from super cheap on the passengers side stuck to original mirror. Regards Steve

Fully agree with Steve, my 105 came with convex mirror on drivers side and after I nearly put some poor bloke up the medium strip,I bought a mirror glass that suits an 04 (flat glass) model and replaced the convex.
The mirror housing are the same

Could you elaborate a bit for me please, what & where to buy etc. Many Thanks. Barry

My mirror glass is for 2004 model gxl cruiser(flat glass),I own a 2005 standard wagon(convex) which has the same shape mirror.
The mirror glass can be bought seperate(toyota genuine) around $70 of memory($120 for convex)
