Hey guys, I'm getting my rooftop tent next week but I've heard a lot about the standard mattress and how it's not really that flash. If you guys have some experience with rooftop tent mattresses, what do you recommend?

I think it only comes in one thickness, but 2 qualities. Its about 2 inches from base to peak, so on average about 1inch to 1.5 inches.
You have to check that the tent will close with it on.
I have a 4 inch matress in my Campomatic, and I still hit bottom with my hip. The cellular fixed it, but it is harder to close now.

Brett iv'e had a Hannibal rooftop tent for around 3 years & the tent gets used about every 3 weeks, also my wife has a bad back & we have nothing but good things to say about their mattress.
But you get what you pay for

Brett
We have the original Howling Moon tent that the ARB is 'extremely similar' to and the mattress in there is just sensational.
It is inside a cover so I can't tell you how/what it is constructed of.
My SWMBO has not bitched once about it and when it comes to mattresses thats the 'test' and as long as it passes that 'test' then I ace by me and I don't care how much it/they cost to buy or replace.
I looks about 3in thick and is firm as.

Cheers guys, will put it to the test next week then. Sounds like we should be right with the standard mattress.
Cheers for the input.

We have an innerspring mattress in our Shippshape, might not work in something that has to be folded though.
