Just purchased a 4.2 GU with 17 inch rims and tyre size of 265x 65x17 and and wondered if I can fit 15 inch or 16 rims.

15" rims wont fit over the brakes. 16" rims fit ok with 285X75X16 tyres (33") diam.

I can vouch for 16" rims running 305x70xR16's for my 04 GU. There is a 'tiny' bit of scrub at full lock when reversing out of my driveway, otherwise all is fine :)

Gday Fleggy, yours is a series 111 mate, they came out with 16's as standard...:)
Back on topic tho. We have a 06 GUIV and run 16inch rims no probleem at all. Tires are 265/75r16's,

Heh, yeah your right rick and thanks for pointhing that out to me - it was early this morning when I replied to that and had just been woken up by a call out from work. Should have twigged when reading it that I had a different model!

Hi Roger S
As from posts there are a few differences in brake caliper sizes etc over the years so
check any rims first.
Generally speaking the ROH Trak 11 rims are reccomended as they have better offset and in any given wheel size will fit more cars.
I use 16 in trak 11's and mostly run large diameter but skinny 255/85/16 for my car, a Patrol 4800 which has the biggest brake size.
15 inch will fit some 4.2's - but
check

When I bought my GU it had 15" sunraysias on it, after a while I replaced them with a set of alloys (don't know the name but I think they were ROH).
After a while I had a vibration and was looking under the front and noticed the brake callipers were rubbing away at the stick on weights on the inside of the rim. Just something to look out for also
Now have 16"s
Cheers Luke
