Does anyone have dash mounted speakers on a 75 series troopcarrier (or any variant of the 70/73/75 series)? There is no speaker behind the dash on the passenger side in my one, just a void, and I was wondering how anyone mounts a 4" speaker in there.
Toyota tell me they don't have such a part/bracket, and I don't have access to any other troopy or similar to check at present.

Thanks in advance,
Tim

Hi Tim,
Checkout the 78 Series RV, mine has two speakers. Basically the same dash so the bits should fit.

The old 75 Troopy of mine with the factory "wireless" had only the right hand speaker as you say.

I had a stereo CD unit installed recently. 4" speakers fitted OK into spaces. I think the wiring was even in-situ, as I guess the RVs (same type of vehicle) may have stereo fitted standard??

G'day Tim
Just put a new radio in the troopy 75 series, you should find two bolts that will hold a 4" speaker, speaker goes over bolts and secure with 2 nuts the top bolt requires a small bracket from the speaker to the bolt. As i didn't have one bracket i just lined up the speaker to dash a drilled a hole thru the dash and bolted speaker on.
To stop any vibrations from the speaker to the metal dash i used some self adheasive foam on the speaker.

If your in Melbourne i can show you what i did and also give you the old speakers that i removed.

Regards Stephen

Thanks for the offer Stephen, but I'm in Sydney.
From your response and the others I realized that I would need to make up my own bracket as the holes on the 4" Alpine speakers that I purchased do not line up with the two existing bolts, so last night I managed to fashion up a bracket and get the passenger side speaker installed.
Now I just have to replace the OEM speaker on the driver's side and see how my handiwork survives the CSR in a few weeks.....

Thanks very much for everyone's help, it's much appreciated.

Tim

Tim

About a year or so ago I removed the OEM Stero/Cassette and two dash speakers from my Troopy and installed a JVC CD/Mp3 AM/FM player along with four speakers.

I fitted the two 4in speakers in dead simple. The wiring harness for the speakers was the challenge. Just took a bit of time, effort and few skinned knuckles, but thats the fun of it all.
