Hi all,

Just visiting for the moment, but seriously considering membership of this great group!

Can i ask a question of fellow Nissan Patrol owners - in particular those with late model GU Cab Chassis.

I have purchased a dual battery tray from Piranha that is supposed to suit - but it doesnt!

According to their instructions my engine bay should look like:

but it looks more like:

which is the engine bay of the 3.0TD

Anyone else with a 4.2TD GU got the same problem? If so did you use the 3.0TD kit from Piranha or did you use a different kit altogether??

Thanks in advance :-)

Just go to Piranha (or their local rep wherever you are) - I had a problem about a year ago they they fixed it no problems at all (including interstate transfer). BUT, get it right, battery tray/connection failures are common. JD

G'Day Stocky,

Have got the same GU as you apparently. 2003 GU 4.2 TD Cab Chassis. I looked at Piranha but ended up opting for ARB tray. A lot sturdier, and I think dearer, probably for that reason.

Then came to same problem as you. The dual radiator bottles stop it from fitting correctly. Had to take to tray in anger with a grinder and cut lip off back section to accomodate radiator bottles, rearrange vacuum canisters and reroute heater hose. The job ended up looking good and strong, but yes, there appear to be GU's and Gu's.

Thanks guys,

I'm out in the country so I ordered it through my local mechanic - who got it from TJM/4WDMegastore in Adelaide - they where all told it was 12/2006 model - no mention of different versions in any catalog - BUGGA!

See what Monday morning and a few phone calls brings :-(

Fitted a ARB tray to my 03/2006. No problems at all. Layout is the same as yours.

Stocky

I have a dual battery setup on my 2000 4.2 TD Patrol.

Initially purchased the ARB battery tray. Didin't fit and sent it back.

Purchased the Piranha which fitted perfectly. My engine bay is like the one according to the instructions. What year is your Patrol. You have a tray for a 2000 patrol.

OK - so TJM in Adelaide dont know their product!
They where told it was for a 2006 4.2TD Cab Chassis - and that is what i was sent.
No mention on Piranha site of anything but ONE tray to fit GU Patrol 4.2TD.
Annoying! ANNOYED!!

Phone calls in the morning!!

Thanks to all for their input

Thanks to Piranha for sorting it out

Silly man at TJM in Adelaide sold us the wrong part

BTGU4.2TD tray is to suit NON intercooled and older GU Cab Chassis

BTGU4.2TDi tray fits newer (all intercooled) versions

Note to future purchasers!

Pick up the *correct* tray tomorrow - hope to report happier installation this time round!! :-)
