Guys,
I am constantly confounded by the depth of knowledge here, so thought I would once more try and tap it! I was doing some research on MRF tyres in the archives and found plenty of good statements about 'em (Willem and Daveo). Question is that I couldn't find much recent updates. Was considering M77 type as they are cheap as chips and on splits with 14 plys should be bomb proof. We use em to good effect on light trucks in our bush operations in West Africa - I was thinking about on my troopy for expedition (gravel roads, sandy tracks which in Sahel I guess is fairly similar to Oz type bush) and a bit of mud plugging. MT tyres are impossible to source in Ghana - strange 'cause there is a definate need! AT tyres (particularly Goodyear) I am really not a big fan. I know this issue has been done to death to an extent, but was really hoping for feedback from someone who decided to take a "step back" and a few months down the line has an opinion on super rugged tyres on splits versus a more "conventional" setup.
Ta in advance

there really is no comparrison in regards to puncture resistance. I actually did a head to head same track once with 100%baldMRF Super traction 12 plys and once with goodyear MTR 90% tread. The MRF had no worries including a pretty rugged side track whereas the MTR suffered 3 punctures

I have used 14 ply rating MRF M77 on my trailer. They have come off statioin vehicles in the Flinders Ranges. Tracks out there can be hard on tyres. The only thing wrong with them would be that they do not have as much sidewall flex as the 12 ply rating Super Tractions for sand driving but on the trailer they are fine. My MRF Super Tractions on the Nissan are proving to be very good so far, especially on really rough rocky tracks.

Cheers

Thanks a lot guys! From my forum searches kind of figured you both would provide some feedback. Can get both the super tractions and the M77 so will probly buy a set of super traction and give 'em a go!
