The Story goes:
Wifes car needs new windscreen - I call windscreens O'...n on the 13 yellow pages number - get the national call centre. Supply all details, location etc. He says ' OK sir, that will be $381, and puts me thru to the office in
cairns to arrange a time. Me thinks hmmm, that's a bit dear. I call another firm, get someone who is in town! he say's 'that'll be $210!.
I then locate the first
places local number (white pages), and speak to the same person that the call centre put me thru to in the first place. This person says 'what did they (call centre) quote you? I says $381. They say "we can do it for $210"! SO - the same company via the yellow pages 13 number wants $381, but contact them locally, and it's $210!!
Beware the yellow pages 13 numbers!!!!
Cheers (I'm calm now)
Mark

Interesting.
In my case it wasn't my pocket that the money was coming out of, but had cause to use W O'B last week.
Called up the 13 number and got quoted $315 for something that just 6 months ago was done for $277 - I had to negotiate with the dump truck owner who's load damaged it, so couldn't say yes or no, and didn't really care much.
Anyways, within about 10 min of putting the phone down the phone rang and guess what - the price was now $267. I saved the poor beggar the $48 and had it done at the lower price ... allegedly it was because they could use a windscreen without the mounting block for rear view vision mirror on my car ...
Cheers
Andrew.

Four years ago was quoted $315 by WOB for 100 l/cruiser, after mentioning that I had insurance they did the job for $209, less than my excess of $250.

Then i phoned a local supplier - daylight between the them - and would do it on the saturday

In total agreement O,B are rip offs bigtime
Just last week rang for a quote $380 and this is a quote mind you then he ask's for Name/ Phone ect whats that got to do the price of eggs infact windscreens as the case was.
Then all the crap of the latest sealent from Europe exclussive to O'B rah rah.
Opened up the yellow pages book and a few calls got the windscreen for $200 from a very helpfull fellow.
I think O'B are just in business the get the
Shop windows that are broken after hours with there kickbacks to the Gestarpo and there over top prices.
Let your fingers do the walking.

John

Same story,
Little
rock chip that ran and ran on front windscreen. JHust about to go away. Murphy's Rule #1. Called OB national call centre and was quoted $378. Went to my loca NRMA accreditted repair
shop and asked who they used.
I was given a local number for a privateer that calls on you.. $217...
Whilst talking to him whilst he worked he said that precious few screens are local made now and nearly all come from China and that they are good quality. He added that WOB had terminated its production plant in Oz about 2 years ago ( I remember seeing a TV newscast re workers receiving the announcement of termination day). So the product national giant and local privateer are probably buying and using the same product.

Hi Jo, yep we have the same thing on both cars $ 58 NRMA and covers any windows, windsreen, no loss of no claim bones etc and got a crack in myn one week after having it has slowly moved its way across in front of drivers view so will get it replaced at the end of the year. I will have to read my policy again but I think its only for one window per year will have to double
check. Wifes new toyota is $1300 for a new screen wouldnt have a clue what the prados worth but got a chip in the wifes car with in the first week started to bullseye straight away but got my mate to come out the day we got
home (he does windscreen repairs) and he drilled, buzzed, what ever he does and now all you can see is a small dot due to dirt getting in under the laminate but can mainly see it cause I know its there. Regards Steve M

Double
check to be sure but they told me it is unlimited replacements. the current crack was only in the corner of the window.. then two days later had the car parked in the sun and within half an hour it had hugely spread!
