Hi all,
My camper trailer canvas top has two small holes that have been worn through from incorrect storage of a plastic table on top of it, and a couple of the tent peg hold down flaps have come unstitched from the soft floor.
Would dollops of silicon fix either or both of these problems, or is anyone aware of proprietary products specifically made for the purpose?
Our local camping
shop is staffed by teenagers (who think camping is something same sex male persons should keep quiet about), and are no help with canvas repairs.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ian

For two small holes I use surfboard wax. Lasts for years.
Larger hole, you can get some iron on patches.
For the loops, you might need to see a prfessional and get them restiched.

Go to a sailmaker & get some sail number material, that they call "stickyback".
I have used it & it does an excellent job.

Ian,
I obtained a small piece of similar coloured canvas and siliconed it to the canvas on my roof topper. I cut the patch out in a circle so that a thread can't start to unravel and cause future problems.
That was about 12 months or more ago and so far It has worked fine.
I used a clamp to hold the two pieces together until the silicon dried.
You can see the area easily from the back but on the front the torn area is all that is visible.
Cheers
Des

Use Seam Grip www.mcnett.com/page.cfm?pageID=549
Amazing stuff! You can use it to just fill the hole or to stick a small bit of canvas over the hole.
Anaconda should have it - they do down here.

As a guy who self tought himself to sew(many years of learning)with an industral consew machine I can tell you the canvas boys will charge you an arm n leg to repair it,so I suggest you try to fix it your self.
First look at the holes and if there's no tension then get some canvas with the ends sewn to prevent fraying then use some bostic glue to attach to surface ,place an heavy object(heavier the better) ontop for a couple of days(make sure nothing will stick underneath unless you want to put something there to hide the glue stain)
After a couple of days wait a further week as the glue can take a long time to cure
BUT if you have tension then spend the money to get it fixed, silicon will work for a short period but tends to eat the fabric. To save money take off the canvas top and take it to your local canvas guy or even better sew it yourself its not hard
