Think you are trying to achieve too much in 10 days. If you want to do the walks at
Carnarvon you probably need 3 days. One day to get there and it is a full day drive from
Brisbane, 2 to do the walks. Would suggest you do the longest walk first and on the way back do the side walks and when tired or running out of day you make your way back and the next day you only have to walk back to the last walk in the next day to see the ones you missed. The walk to the end if I remember correctly and it was over 10 years ago when I did it was 18ks. We spent a week there with one day to get there one day relaxing one day walking next day much need rest the the next day walking.
Whichever way you do, just enjoy the great outdoors which at the moment will be very dry.

Have to agree with Robyn. You will definitely need a day or two to recover from the walks.
Carnarvon Gorge is a great spot, you will certainly enjoy it.
Have a good trip.

Maybe you could think about going from
Clermont to Charters Towers on the
Gregory Development Road and then into
Townsville. It's a good road and it would save doubling up on some of the Bruce Highway. Charters Towers is a magnificent old town with many of its buildings classified by the National Trust.
The trip into
Townsville is interesting too and you could do a side trip out to
Ravenswood which is an historic old mining town. Burdekin
Dam is also interesting but further out. The
camping area looked pretty good there.
Ten days isn't a long time but if it's all you got then go for it. You can always go back to
places you liked at another time.
Best wishes
Viv

You could also head north from
Nebo going to
Collinsville which will cut out doing Mackay twice. It is a dirt road but unless wet it is in pretty good condition, if it is wet forget this road. Good camps on the river west of
Collinsville just follow your nose down the dirt tracks beside this river and you will find a peaceful spot.
Enjoy what time you have.
Trevor.
