A couple of weeks ago I ordered from a reputable tyre company 5 x BFG Mud Terrain tyres (265 75 R16). They were due to go on today.
Well, they stuffed up and ordered All Terrains instead. No problems, get some more in I said. No more until Mid-June I was told. Thats too late for me, as I'm going bush June 9. There's five in
Karratha we can possibly get for you. No thanks I said - Goodbye.
I've rung about 8 different tyre mobs today and none had what I wanted, some said no more until mid June.
Well the only reason I was going to get BFG's was because of the bagging Coopers have been receiving on this site. But what do I do???? I'm not going to risk not getting decent tyres in time for the trip.
I going against my better judgment (and
forum users as
well) and getting 5 x Cooper STT Armortek's tomorrow. I've already booked the ute in. They're about 15% more expensive but hey, what the hell!!!
In just more than a months time I will know first-hand whether they cut the mustard or not.

Hi Equinox
Two years ago, we bought four new BFG 80% Bitumen & 20% Sand tyres
from a tyre outlet on the
Gold Coast, after they were fitted and balanced
and payed for, We noticed a thumping noise while driving
home, we went
back to the tyre outlet, they found two tyres with blisters, which they didnt pick
up on the wheel balance machine, they had no others in stock, and none at
any other outlets in south east Queensland, they managed to get one from
Mount Isa, and the other from
Cairns, we had to wait 3 days, while the wife
put up with the thumping tyres, In hinde sight what would happen if you did
major damage to a B F G tyre and could not get it replaced straight away.
Cheers
Daza

I picked up 2 muddies about 3 weeks ago now. Took them at least 6 weeks to get though.

Equinox
Take lots of tyreplugs with you. In turpentine country you are going to need 'em. Qatch where you out those wheels!!!
I would go for harder tyre pressures this time but if you are in sand you might run into strife.
I started off with 60 tyreplugs in 2004 with the first set of Coopers and by July 2006 on the second set I had run out!!!
LOL
Cheers

Bob Janes seem to get BFG when others can't.
Or are they the "reputable" tyre dealer? :-)))

I had BFG MT's fitted yesterday but in a 285x75. I called the day before so they could order them. No drama's. But maybe there's an issue over west with supply? Nothing like new tyres on a vehicle.

Have got them on the rims now - My first impression was that they certainly look indestructible. Bought a couple of tubes and valves just in case. The dealer even chucked in a Coopers stubbie holder for free.
Road noise is minimal - I expected them to be louder.
My old tyres are still 70%, 1 is 100% so I'll take the two best ones for extra spares.
Now I'll just sit here and watch the clock ticking down!!!!
