ok a few weeks ago i mentioned on the forum that work had ordered a new rodeo dual cab 2007 3.0 l td common rail diesel with rear canopy (which is really for my dogs but work thinks its to carry gear in) for me to drive and a couple of people asked me to report back after i had driven it for a while - picked it up last week and have done 1000 kms since and impressions are - well frankly i am a bit dissapointed as i find it quite a bit noiser than my current private vehicle which is a 2004 ser IV 3.0 l td nissan patrol stn wag - as the turbo in the rodeo has a very loud whine . / buzz when i rev it up which i did not detect on the test drive vehicle i took out a few weeks back
ride is as you would expect for an empty dual cab - a bit bumpee but not too bad but the vision is terrible on the drivers side with a really bad blind spot next to the rear drivers side door - nearly caused me to prang it second day i had it so off to super crap to buy 4 off 360 deg blind spot mirrors which certainly help
so frankly i do prefer my 3.0 l td nissan patrol which is much quieter and i suppose i just like it i guess - but then the price was right re the rodeo dual cab
4 wd wise i have hardly had it in 4wd but the it seems to have about medium 4wd capability the little i have used it in 4wd
thats about it - although my 3 dogs really like it
see you greg

Would you go for the V6 Commodore motor rather than TD if you had the choice again? (I get a fuel card too)

That Rodeo is exactly what I'm looking at from work at the moment funnily enough. Is yours an auto?

yes v8 diesel mate defintely sorry i did not go with the petrol engine now and i did have the choice at the time but i do like my patrol with the much malined 3.0 td engine so i went for the new diesel engine and hey mine may just one that has a real noisey turbo you never know

sorry yes mine is an auto and performance is not too bad bit slow on the pick up but once it gets going it stays with the traffic - probably a dtronic up grade chip would really help

Thanks for that, very interesting. I've got a manual V6 which I believe has the old motor in it and I find it a horrible little buzzy thing, but the one I'm set to get is the dual cab auto with the new Dunnydoor donk and auto. It seems to be a much more 'rounded' vehicle to drive. I was going to push heavily for the TD, might keep quiet now.
