Guys,
I know there is a lot of posts on this topic but.
I own a 2006 Prado Grande need to replace tyres.
I do 40,000 year mostly highway, but i take the 3wd offroad every 2nd weekend.
Mostly sand/small rough driving (nothing serious).
Confused on the best tyre to get? Whats the options?
Want something that is quiet on the highway but OK offroad??

Any help appreciated?
Cheers
Justin

Bridgestone D694s would best suit what you describe (they are passenger tyres though, no an LT)

If off-road every 2nd weekend I think you should be on AT tyres Justin

i have the same truck you have and recently replace the oem tyres with cooper atr 265/70r17. it is one size up and the tread more agressive. recently travelled to fraser island and the tyres performed fine (i'm sydney based). on the freeway, the extra noise is only noticeable with windows down, but even then you have to know what you are listening for, specially with all the wind noise. the prado's sound deadening is pretty good so you will not be able to tell the noise difference (with the windows up) compared to the oem tyres.

i got the tyres two days before the trip, and a month later, it still looks new with just over 6000km on it. yet to test it on some mountain tracks, maybe at baal bone at wollemi national park in the next two months, and maybe deau national park later this year.

my brother (owns a prado as well, same year) was sceptical about the noise of the tyres, but now that he's tested mine, he's looking at getting a set.

the truck is also my daily ride to/from work so noise was one of the considerations in choosing the tyres.

i'm very happy with the tyres. suits what i need. hope this helps.

Hi Firefox
I have an 05 model and run Good year Wrangler MTR's off road and still have the Dunlops on the alloys for around town. When they wear out I will be trying the toyo opats.
I have customers with Pirelli's on them and seem to be going quite good on wear. No off road for them.
just my two cents worth
Scott
