Does anyone have a safe in their van and if so, what method of securing it have you used.
Was thinking of a steel plate welded to chassis, with 4 welded bolts going up through floor and safe bolted and secured from inside van.

Can't see that going anywhere in a hurry.
I kept a safe bolted in to my Patrol. Very handy bit of gear.

I simply used cuphead bolts with the cup part under the van and the nuts inside the safe....It is only to deter the oportunist thief after all, just gives me piece of mind that any extra cash and small atractive (ie easily sold for drugs) items have some security. Also bought and installed one of those all in one alarm systems from Bunnings for about $70 with 2 remotes which is handy as it scares the daylights out of me if I forget to disarm it on entry and certaily causes heads to turn and look....

You could also try hide away safes
Much lighter and you can remove the goodies at
home when not required
safes

Thanks Rolande, but I already have the safe, its just a matter of coming up with the best way of fixing it to the van.

Gday,
Mate, anything you fabricate you can un?fabricate, you will only inconvenience the thief!
The hardest thing to cut through with an oxy is a cavity (two plates with an air gap) and noise will always be a deterrent.
I would personally make something that is hidden and noisy or inconvenient to get out rather than obvious and solid.
Not much help probably, but think about it and even better don't tell anyone...SSHHH.
Cheers
