Well I finaly got around to having a look at the new Landcruiser V8 4 door today, most impressed, The dash is almost the same as my Troopy , nothing wrong with that, it is functional and Familiar, I WANT ONE ,but at my age I don't want to get into debt again so looks like staying with the old one,

Ummmmm................. I put me foot in it, didn't I !!!!

Nothing mate, BUT it looks a bit too utilitarian like a Landrover. Hey landrovers are good if you like that sort of thing...lol. In fact I have owned a few...maybe I had better stop before I go too far...hahahahaha

Actually I think the design was from an early 90s Prado............Not available here in Australia.

Ill stick with my brunswick GU Patrol...............nice strong mechanicals with a simple easily fixed V8 Diesel.....................and it tows my 2.5 tonne van like a train...........Wonderful.........

And it was 20 grand less..........Bugger..............

Go on - buy one.
Debts great. Have today - pay tomorrow.

If you fall off your perch, the kids can repay the remaining debt out of the estate. Ie super, life ins, property, shares etc etc list goes on and on. (After selling the vehicle)

Beats being the richest man in the cemetary.

You only get one life - Enjoy!!!!

Hi all, well finally for the first time I’ve brought myself a new 4b, boy it was a hard discission, lots of test drives, looking at specs sheets and lots of research. It came down to basically 3 4x4’s, Prado, Patrol and the V8 70 wagon and trust me it was so hard trying to work out which one to buy. The 3ltr auto Patrol was a very nice car to drive, solid as and good value but I wanted more power and I didn’t want to add too much after market accessories or power aids. The TD Prado was a beautiful car to drive man it was very comfy and the power not bad but the IFS at the front I wasn’t to keen on and it desperately needed a suspension lift, some traction aids and better tyres. So it came down to the V8 70 wagon and yes it has a few down falls but what do you do for an example you can’t by a new TD 80 series anymore or a new patrol with more cylinders and power. Yes the new V8 70 has a low slung alternator, 90 ltr tank, rear leafs and it’s a little basic (which I don’t mind) but it drove really well, smooth and effortlessly. The factory lockers are a great option (and on order) and if the diffs fail it’s straight back to Mr Toyota, because I didn’t modify anything and the car is designed with lockers well what come back do they have?
Hopefully it’s due in a couple of months and I will keep you all posted on how it goes on and off road.

All the best,
Stamps

"if the diffs fail.....well what come back do they have?" The first thing they may ask when you blow a diff is were you travelling over 8 kph (fast walk) as that is the maximum speed recomended by Toyota with lockers engaged. That pretty much means no diff locks to be used in sand or any gear above first high.
Good luck with the new bus.
Cheers Craig.......

Craig the speed warning is due to the possible heavy steering when the lockers are engaged and that obviously people may have difficulties controlling the vehicle particularly at higher speeds.
ARB also warn about engaging and use at speed.

But I know were your coming from over the get out of jail excuse.

What some of us mean is that it's a "new" (not second hand) 4b and don't forget the engine is a new design. They also don't have shipments coming in every day otherwise mine would be on the road by now. The first shipment was mainly pre-orders and yard stock, wait till the next 6mths you will be seeing a few more around.

All the best,
Stamps

More Marketing than anything else

Truth be known there probably all sitting in a storage shed somewhere is better to have people saying there waiting a number weeks for there's which lets potential buyers make there minds up quicker to get there orders in.

Also when people have something that is hard to get the first thing they do is go and show it to everyone (all that free advertising)

The first electric razor patent was for a triple head what did they do released the single head then around fathers day next year the double head then xmas time the next year the triple head.

Theirs more to selling products than meets the eye or were lead to be leave that's for sure.

Not sure if that's the issue here John. My local dealer has had a gxl wagon with lockers in his yard from April 2nd. A new model car on the lot for 6 weeks & he can't sell it.
You are right with the product sales though, new motor this time to get everyone to upgrade, then it will be the long range tank, improved seats & new grill followed eventually with the vehicle we should of got in the first place being new body, coil suspension & a dash with airbags. Of course the improvements would come quicker if no one buys the first model out ;-)
Cheers Craig............

Well it's sure not what I meant, when I say NEW i mean NEW , There has not been a 4 door as in 70 series before, it has a V8 TD Motor, the bonnet is different, it has a long overdue scoop, I reackon it's the Ducks Nuts , but of course that's my view, it is a free country......isn't it ....well it was.

son inlaw works for a toyota dealership in WA. He sold one to a reletive who has to wait a month for delivery but now its three months for subsequent sales. He says it would be better to wait six months because the tight supply is keeping the price up.

Not surprised it looks like a Land Rover(if it does). That's what they normally do, don't they? Wait to see which way Land Rover jump and "hey, here we go guys - the template's out" they've done our design for us again.
