Hi All, posted this last night but for some reason it has been removed.
Looking at putting on a cruise control for my '06 GU Patrol Cab Chassis. Could anyone please let me know of reasonably priced units that have proven to be reliable.
Much appreciated
Cheers
Alex

Hi Alex,
I own a Nissan Patrol Gu and I had a cruise control fitted from Autron Electronics. This is an Australian product and it is probably one of the best on the market. I have had it now for 3 years and it is working faultlessly and very reliable. Just go on to their website: www.autron.com.au. and they will be able to help you about price and fitting location.
Regards,
Giggi

Alex, agree with giggi, I have had Autron Cruise for nearly 6.5 years on GU Ute, not an ounce of trouble, can highly recommend them.

I too have an autron on my 4.2TD. I do have problems with it in that it surges really badly when I have either a head or tail wind.
I tried contacting their service department but eventually they just stopped relying to my emails. This was whilst it was still within the warranty period.
Now I use it when I can, but if I have either of the above conditions, then I just go back to using the right foot. The surging is too obvious to ignore and makes it uncomfortable to use.

Hi Alex,
I assume you pickup is not the 3.0L, which uses drive-by-wire control, but is the 4.2 diesel.
For my 4.2l, I've been using an AP50 from Kmart; cost about $150, made by Command. This is their "cheapie" that they sell via Kmart, and it works
well. Its only limitation is that the speed signal pickup is via the tailshaft, using magnets affixed to it and a pickup sensor. Otherwise great.
I fixed that problem with a cheap interface so it can be driven off the speedo sensor.

HI Gerry,
Yes it's the TD42. What do you mean by the 'cheap interface" and how is it done?
The price is certianly attractive.

Really a reply or suggestion for Pilbarawayne, I too had surging on my autorun cruise control, but found that the connection onto the accelerator pedal shaft had slipped to the bottom causing exaggerated reactions and surging. I simply pushed the connection to the top of the shaft and it was, and has remained hunky-dory. Cheers Eric.

Have recently fitted a Command AP60 to my TD42T GU wagon.
Im currently in the process of writing up the install.
Unit was on special at Supercheap Auto a few weeks ago for $179.
This unit is fairly easy to install and can be tapped into the speedo electronic pulse rather than using the magnets.

I have an AP200 on my 93 Range Rover.
At one stage it surged badly. I called Command who diagnosed a failed solonoid in the servo over the phone and mailed a new one for about $40. this is apparently a common failure with cruises.
I called back as the cruise is about 8 years old and I thought maybe I should buy a spare. The guy assured me they had no plans to change the part, so it would be in stock for years to come.
I think this aspect is pretty important, so I am very happy with my Command.
