I have recently commence caravaning and have used the "Camps 3:" now upgraded to Camps 4. Areas have included GPS co-ordinates of off road camp spots.

I wish to know what sort of unit to purchase so I can use these references. We own a lap-top an wonder is a GPS mouse the Track ranger is the way to go.

I endeavored to contact navaman but they were less than helpful as gthay only have maps of Australian sealed roads.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Hi ya Ed & Ted
Can't provide too much info on the GPS however in case you don't already know, there are files on the web that have 99% of the rest & camp spots compiled ready to upload to a GPS. You just have to upload them then select the destinations.
Cheers

Thanks for that but what is the link to upload this file. I have searched the net but can not find their location. By the way I ended up buying a Garmin 310 and I am pleased with it.

Hi ya Ed & Ted
Don't know much about a Garmin 310 however try these links (you will have to copy these into a web browser)

www.gps-data-team.com/poi/

www.ozpoi.com/

members.iinet.com.au/~cbbbdl/

In all the above you need to navigate your way around to find the files you want.

If you get a file that is not Garmin compatible you can convert if using the following website: www.poieditor.com/

Hope this helps

Hi,
I bought a copy of Camps 4 a couple of weeks ago and already have found that 4 of the places we are booked into in Qld in Sept aren't in the book. These places are caravan parks that have been there for eons.
I was a bit dissapointed with it for the price.
regards
Tour Boy

Tour Boy - as I owned a caravan park at the time I first saw this Camps book and ours wasn't included nor were a few others I thought should have been. I contacted the authors who advised me that inclusion of caravan parks was based specifically on price of powered sites per night. I asked them had they even been to ours - no, was the answer and when I explained I had 30 acres of unpowered sites which should have been included they said they didn't realise that and also our powered sites were borderline (Price wise) - would you believe it. Interested to see that Camps 4 still doesn't have the park in it!

Even worse - it says you can camp in places where you actually can't. Lenthalls dam is an example.
