I am considering buying a two year old van (coromal) and have been told that independent
suspension tends to scrub out tyres on some models of van. Could owners of vans with same please reveal their experiences, both good and bad. Thanking you in advance. Les

I had a Coromal Priston 701 and never found any tyre scuffing. It flexed the frame rather than scuff the tyres. A friend of ours had one the the support arms welded in the wrong place causing bad scuffing. Coromal put it down to wear and tear but dealer fixed. It is hard to see how wear and tear shifts a welding point.
There are other issues with some of the newer Coromals.
Have a good look to see that there is no movement in cupboard joins, no evidence of water leaks or repairs around windows and edges, the angle iron floor supports are not twisted (This is indicated with the floor joins being obvious on the inside) and no cracking of galvanising at the and of the main tow A frame.
Some of the early Prinstons had a light chasis which failed.
There are a lot of Coromals that are holding up so just be aware.

Gday Hoppy,
I brought my Coromal Capri New in 2004 was a 03 model and it scrubbed out tyres all 4 only 6,000 and a authorized caravan repairer adjusted it by cutting the welded stay and moving it which made it worse than ever.So I finally found a Truck Lazer Wheel Aligner who had the van for a week and had to move all the Chassie Brackets and re-weld-
Lots of work and only charged me $650.
It now runs ok and does not scrubb tyres at all.So I contacted Coromal and they told me basically to go jump and that they had paid for the Warranty Job once and to go see the caravan repairer (yer-rite) they also said that I most likely had hit a Pothole so ya better not hit any Pot-holes in a Coromal Caravan.
So finally I am able to use my $50,000-00 caravan after two years and I also have fitted a new set of 195-14 tyres which are a much better tyre than the 185-14 they fit.

Last year I bought a 3 yr old Coromal Seka 535 pop-top that had done about 20,000 km, including a
Kimberley trip. I recently did over 10,000km with it towing at up to 110KPH on bitumen, and the four original 16inch desert dueller A/T tyres still look like new.
I believe the Coromal independent wheel system is now antiquated compared to the modern springy systems, but I have nothing but praise for its ride and stability on and off the road. Maybe the newer systems are more responsive and bounce more, thus there may be more tyre wear?
Cheers.
