Hi, I have looked thru the archives but did not find a definitave answer to my query.
Took the Jayco Freedom (2001 model) down the track for a run over Easter. Weather here in the low 30's. Cooled the Dometic/Electrolux 2350 3 way fridge down for a day on 240v before leaving, 12v for a couple of hours on the way, then onto gas when we stopped. I have a fan in the lower section as per instructions and had it running for during the day but turned it off at night. The temp in the fridge part got up to 12-13° before going back down to 7-8° during the night. The freezer compartment seemed to stay cold with ice blocks still solid.
I am not that happy with the rise in temp during the day. The fridge was not opened that often ( Beer in the Engel in the Prado ! !). That side of the van was not in the blazing sun either. I have read stories about tipping the unit upside down for a while but had a quick look and could not see the gas connection to disconnect it so gave it a miss. If this is an accepted method could someone give me a guide to getting the fridge out ? Looks like it might be a major task to get it out of the van so will do the tipping inside if that is the go.

Someone suggested a bigger jet in the burner, has anyone done that ?

Are there any other ways to improve the efficiency ?

Thanks in advance.

I just went through this excersize last week. Its not much effort to remove the fridge (ours is a 2001 Freedom also). I first removed the door by taking off the front control panel then removing the top hinge and lifting it off. Then undid 4 screws under the liftoff caps. Moved fridge forward acouple of inches then took off both outside vent covers. Removed flue and heat outlet, unconnecte battery connections. Back inside I moved fridge out til iI couuld see the gas pipe, removed plastiv cover and disconnected gas pipe ( while holding what it fits onto with a spanner). Don't forget to pull the 240v cable through. To replace, reverse above

Thanks for that info Geoff. I will look into again later in the week. Were your symptoms similar to mine ? You said the problem was the regulator..... is that the main one on the gas bottle or something else ? ?

run the fridge at home on 240v for a few days and note the temps, then run on gas for a few days and again note the temps and post them again.
