Just had 285 75 16 MTRs fitted to the new GU 4 and the tyres catch the mud flaps on a tight left and right turn. Car has a 2" lift. If you have solved the problem please let me know how. I figure the easy way is to trim the inner corner off the mud flap.

You have answered your own question. The series 3 and 4's are a little different.

I realise that. Hoping that Bruce will let me know what he did.

Dunno, mines an 03 model, they fit fine :)
As stated below, you can fit 8-15mm spacers on the control arms to center them in the wheel arch which is a common mod for people with 35s

Ditto Truckster,
The spacers are great or if you are not into putting her on stands to do the spacers, a little massage with a heat gun and a peice of wood makes a lot of clearance!

You can fit a 12.5mm Radius arm Spacer to give more room or I just got underneath and moved the inside flap support further back with some gentle persuasion. This gave me about an extra 10mm or so.....I haven't had an issue since and no trimming of the flap was involved....

Peter is yours a 4.2 or 3.0 and am curious if you notice any effect on gearing with bigger tyres,i have been reluctant to increase tyre size on my 3litre as i think gearing is too high now

The new GU is a 4.2 but I had the same tyre size for offroad work on my 2002 3l and they were very good. They actually made the speedo on the
old car accurate.

Hi Peter,I made an inquiry about putting 35s on my 100 series,I was told by OL that due to the new VIC roads laws, anything more than 50mm lift or 50mm increase in tyre diameter, even with an engineers certificate was unroadworthy and not able to be insured... What were you told ???

Bob,
Haven't checked but my modifications fall within these limits. 2" lift = 50mm. 275 to 285 is a 10mm increase
