I read in yesterdays courier mail that you no longer need a permit to drive in a
state forest (large groups or commercial activities excluded , still need a permit).

Interesting.... I'd like to have read that. Car rego is due soon and I have the permits to Traverse sitting on my desk right now so I wouldn't forget to renew them.
Cheers
Jo

That's right.
There will now be 'signs'!
Remember that there has always been a definition of what constitutes a 'track' in a QLD
State forest. something like "6 meters wide, with formed edges and no vegetation in the middle".
Expect to see a reminder of this as you enter the park, and then many, many little pictures of 4bys with a red cross through them as you drive around it...
All groups (and yes that includes
Forum gatherings) still require a Group Activity Permit, and application fee of $22.90 to be lodged a month before the event, along with a copy of your group's "Certificate of Currency" for insurance purposes.
