to all those on the road north
Ellendale pool has great shade but has been over camped now very dusty,plus the ants will get you first. Elephant
hill is a great place to get out of the wind as long as you get in early for a good spot.No good spots closer to Northhampton, very dry and the town park is a dust bowl. To get out of the wind/dust head north to
Kalbarri or over the
Murchison river.

Or try sleeping in a tent on rocks with camels wandering around all night. Tripping over a snake as you go for your midnight ablutions. Waking up to see starlight when there was only canvas when you went to sleep. Digging channels for the stormwater inside the tent in the middle of a downpour. Playing tug a war with a gale force wind that straight off the Antarctic and wants your tent as much as you do.

We were sleeping on
camp beds in those days in a 4man tent. Big Fella storm in the tropics. The tent was
well covered. Drppoed off to sleep but later heard swishing noise. "Whats that?" say SWMBO. "Its water. Just drop your hand over the side of the bed" said I. Luckily it never rose higher than about 6 inches but it was there the next morning plus all the mud that stayed behind.....LOL

Yep, had that happen. Stuff inside the tent started to float away. The kids thought it great, their mother wasn't amused.

What TV ? We didn't have one till 1957, second one in the street. When I was a kid we listened to the radio...the remote control was often Dads hand on the off button if we didn't mind our P's and Q's. Sometimes that hand could turn us off too.

Kalbarri to get out of the wind? I was battling to get the gas alight as it is usually blowing a gale. Still, a favourite and beautiful place. We used to sneak down to the
Murchison River (but wouldn't take a caravan down there) just on edge of NP. Evidence of other campers show that others do to, even though probably not a legit spot to
camp. We have had this lovely spot to ourselves each time.
