For those interested, came across these photos of the next Landcruiser hot weather testing in South Australia.

Heavily covered still, but looks similar to vehicle caught in Oman

From those pictures it looks like a suspension lift will be needed straight away.....Looks like it has lost a fair bit of ground clearance?

Did you read the article????

"One of the interesting aspects of the vehicle is what appears to be an air or hydraulic suspension which lowers the vehicle when the ignition is turned off, presumably for better entry and exit."

Not a question of whether I like you opinion or not!!!

I asked if you had read the article?

You said....
"From those pictures it looks like a suspension lift will be needed straight away.....Looks like it has lost a fair bit of ground clearance?"

So the vehicle is sitting low in the picture because it appears to have an adjustable air or hydraulic suspension system according to the article and you think it needs a lift straight away????

I reckon thats an interesting assumption thats all.

I personally would wonder what the ride height was like with the supposed new suspension active before I made a comment that it need something extra!!!

A new thing to worry about - if you stop on a rough track and the vehicle subsides with all its 2.5 tonnes or more, will the sharp stone under the tank punch a hole?

Oh!!I guess I touched a raw nerve there???

Having a bad day are we sweety??

Your quick to bag a new product site unseen and express your expert opinion then you get upset when someone takes you to task over your comments.

Maybe an early night will help?

Cheers

Not just a stone, it could leave you hung up etc??

If its anything like the Prado Grande Air bags then it will be a potential off road disaster in term of reliablity.

John,

Firstly no need to be rude, it is unbecoming and childish. If it is anything like the Disco 3 suspension then no thanks. Maybe you should be mature enough to respect others opinions, especially when they don't follow your belief.....

Looks like it has a major dust sealing problem by all the tape they have put on to seal the doors and window rubbers. :o)
Might delay the release for a little while while they re-engineer it.

My 13 year old 80 series has less 100mph tape holding it together than that!

Interested to hear more details as they come to hand on the suspension system and what control you have over it when driving. Or does it simply lower the vehicle when the iginition is off, a la Citroen?

Matt.

John,

Agree, but I had a look at the Kinetic suspension website posted earlier by Hugh and it seems to centre around a largely passive system. From the website:

'Kinetics suspension systems are unique in that they can provide reduced articulation stiffness, increased roll stiffness, high levels of comfort and mode decoupled roll and bounce damping all in a passive system. All these parameters are independently tunable. Kinetic systems are not active, they typically require no motors, pumps or computers. Nonetheless can readily be provisioned to provide load levelling and ride height adjustment and can also be adapted to include active or semi active control features to enhance their inherent passive functionality.'

Sounds like a good bunch of attributes in a 4WD and if it can be done with a relatively simple system that is not going to collapse when you least expect it, all the better.

I'll never be able to afford one, but will wait with interest as more info comes to light.

Still think they should get rid of the 100mph tape before release though!

Matt.
