G'day all,

Ive been thinking about getting a canopy and have googled many on the net but cant seem to quite find what Im looking for. Has anybody here had any experience with a canvas canopy on a styleside ute? Have you either bought one or made one up yourself, and if you made it yourself could you post details of what sort of steel/size you used?

What sort of price would I be looking at for a complete canopy and if I made the frame meself and just got a trimmer to make a canopy to go over the top?

What I want is a canopy that has a mesh door frame back and both sides with stuts to lift it, and canvas over the whole lot with zips that undo to open the mesh doors?

Can anyone help? Post pics etc?

I just picked up my rodeo with its new canopy. From my research, the canvas only will range in price from between $600 and $1000 depending on what you would require. I had frame and canvas, for a 6ft x 6ft tray, $1600 The place I went had pictures on the wall of stylside/wellback, so it can be done.

If you are looking in WA, I can provide you the names and contacts of the places I tried.

Their name is Avon Upholstery and furnishers, located in northam.

When I was searching, rather than google, I used the yellow pages online and searched both canvasers AND motor trimmers. This option came up with many more options and businesses.

I'm not sure what a styleside ute is (is that what I'd call a tray back, or a bucket?), but I've had a canopy made for my tray back which sounds very similar to what you're after - mesh doors on three sides with gas struts, canvas covering etc.

I'll dig up some pics and see if I can find the invoice over the weekend. The steel work was done by a local engineering / tray making firm, the canvas by a local upholstering mob.

The majority of the cost was in the labour making the frame - welding the mesh and a whole lot of fiddling around. Took them much longer than I was expecting. However I did get a fridge slide (plus cage around it), false floor for a slide out table, and shelves on one side all made & installed, which added considerably to the cost. Mind you, the fact that they finished it, and with a significant degree of quality, is something that would never have happened had I tried to do it myself!

Have a look at My Rig photos. The canopy was $1,000 and the Canvas $500.
If you need any detailed information, give me your email and I will provide same.
