Camps Australia 4 is due out in Feb.

Until then Camps Australia 3 and Camps Snaps is available at a discounted price apparently.

I have no association with them, just passing on the info.

I have the older version 2, and have seen my BIL version 3 and as a result I am waiting for version 4 so that I can upgrade and help plan the big trip.

Version 3 has info on about 3000 roadside stops, council campgrounds and showgrounds, camp spots in State Forests and National Parks, private campgrounds, roadhouses and truck stops that have camping behind and some cheaper but still clean caravan parks.

A lot of these sites also give GPS references as well as other info on how long you can stay in any site, whether they have toilets/showers/are dog friendly etc.

They are saying that version 4 has 100 more sites than v3 and 11 extra Hema maps than V3.

The Camps Snaps has photo's of about 1800 of these sites so you can get a feel of what it is like before you get there: ie is it big enough for a large van or a group of campers etc etc

Apparently they have also combines the 2 books into a Mega B4 book as well. I must say that B4 is rather large at 250mmx353mm. Don't know if you would get it in to many gloveboxs.

At about $80 for either the 2 books or 1 large book it would only take about 3 nights of free camping to recover your money and be ahead from there on in.

I know that most of the time when I go away, I want to/have to stay at as many free sites or cheaper sites as I can, otherwise I cant afford to go.

Cruiser - Get Jan Holland's Priceless Campsites and Rest Areas - I got mine from ExplorOz. They have a lot more spots of the types you are asking about than Camps3.
