Many years ago I was told this yarn and only came across it recently whilst reading some of Warren Fahey's work. Thought I'd share it with you (very much in a 4WD context of course):
"Eighteen bottles of whisky"
The old bushie had 18 bottles of whisky in his cellar and, after a particularly rowdy night, his long-suffering wife insisted he pour every single bottle down the sink or she would leave him. That afternoon he stood in the pub and told his mates of the horrible experience.
'Reluctantly, I started on my unpleasant task as I withdrew the first cork and commenced pouring the whisky down the sink, I couldn't help myself from drinking a glass first. I withdrew the cork from the second bottle and did likewise with it and scoffed yet another glass. I withdrew the cork from the third bottle and poured the contents down the sink, which I drank. I pulled the cork from the fourth and drank the sink out of it, then threw the bottle down the glass. I pulled the sink out of the next glass and poured the cork down the bottle. Then I corked the sink with the glass, bottled the drink and drank the house. Then, when I had everything emptied, I steadied the house with one hand, counted the glasses, corks, bottles and sinks (which came to twenty-nine) and, as the house came by again, I counted them all again and finally had all the houses in the one bottle which I then drank'
The old timer looked at the puzzled assembly and added: 'I am not under the ofluence of incohol as some thinkle peep I am. I am not half as thunk as you drink I am. I don't know who is me and the drunker I stand the longer I get it!?
