I was reading some past forums a few days ago and read about a
camp near Winjana NP/
Tunnel Creek. It was called
RAAF Boab Quarry, I would like to know if anyone has specifics on its location etc

thanks Ray, I am new to this site and planning a trip from Bris to
Broome and the WA Coast in August this year. Time is tight we only have 10 weeks so this site has been extremely helpful in our planning, knowing what to see and what to miss. We plan to do mostly
free camping, have you done any in this area. Would love to hear from you with any info. Once again Thanks for the link

Hi Thommos
We have traveled from
Brisbane to
Broome and have free camped most of the way. The book
Camp Australia which is available through this site is the bible of free camps along with the knowledge of this site. We only stay in Caravan Parks 1 or 2 times a week, usually to pick up water and do the laundry.
Also when you start to
free camp you will meet like minded travelers who will give you
camp sites not mention in any of the books.
Regards Ray

we have camped there a couple of times last was in september the quarry is on the tunnel ck,
windjana gorge road leaving
fitzroy crossing heading west turn right up the gravel road to
tunnel creek and about 10km up there is a
y junction veer right and the camping is in around the black rocks and boabs there is a large
water hole great for swimming.
I reckon its a great place to
camp for a few days.
