hiya truckster. this photo may prove the point of the value of a roo bar, but,
you should have put a warning as to it's graphic nature in your message first.
i for one have seen this happen on a number of occasion's, that doesnt mean i want to see it here.
please either add a warning, or remove the thread.

Rick, Pretty tame compared to Landsborough Hwy about 3 weeks ago, almost a continuous carpet of road kill. Turn you off travelling. hooroo...

Bob Y. we have all seen this at some stage or another, in varying degree's of unfortunate carnage. having done my fair share of long distance truck driving, i have even caused some of it. my point is simply that it happens out on the road, we all know that. i just don't think it appropriate that with my 12 year old daughter sitting next to me, she should see such a graphic photo on a family orientated 4x4 web site.

Point taken, Rick, tend to get a bit hardened to that sort of thing out here. Good to see the younger ones are showing an interest in this
forum. Hooroo...

Truckster,
Totally unecessary!!
Let's keep this site clean and friendly. Back off a bit and enjoy one of the best sites around. I know from this and other sites that you have a lot to offer and I enjoy your input most of the time but sometimes you get a bit carried away.
Maybe I am having a grumpy morning as you may see by my reply to Diamond, but I am just being protective of what I believe is a fantastic site that I want to enjoy whenever I log on. Maybe it's not my job to fell protective about this site, but I am going to until David, Michelle or the site members tell me to go away.
Happy 4 wheeling

Thanks for taking a protective interest in the site. We will never tell you to go away. I am following these post of picture issues at the moment and I actually hope to be able to allow this to occur. My biggest concern are pictures that I do not want to see on the site. It is almost impossible to vet what is posted in image files.
Please enjoy our site.
Regards
David

Yes it invites viewing.... Thats the idea...
Its a nasty
pic. Thats the idea..
BUT THATS THE POINT. WHICH YOU ARE ALL MISSING.
Its to show the damage that a Roo can cause... If I wanted to be gruesome, I would show pics of the deer thru the windscreen from the USA that are on my site...
With all the talk on should I get a Bullbar/Do they protect etc.. this is the reason for the picture to show the damage a roo can do..
Yes there are people out there that think they are nice lovely little creatures, and if your son blows into a Eucalyptus leaf a
ranger will come-a runnin' ...
They cause LOTS of damage when you hit one. Ive hit one $3000+ to my Rodeo Ute..
Those that have hit one, know they are dumb.. the one we hit actually ran past the car from right to left, then came back directly into the car, just off center on passangers side. It was at night too near Yass. Pulled into the servo, and the bloke said oh
yea, they are bad, your the FOUTH TONIGHT!
So all have a valium or 4, and relax...

Can't say I entirely disagree with Truckster on this one.
Road-kill is a fact of life - as is the need for bullbars in many areas of this country.
Perhaps if more people saw such photographs it might reduce the outcry to have bullbars banned.
And for those who complain about kids seeing this kind of stuff - are they the same kids who think milk comes from the milk factory? That meat comes from Safeways?
We see worse on the TV news every night - with people doing the bleeding!
Let's be a bit real about this.............

About 6 years ago I hit a wappa (
Big red) about half an hour after dark- and I had 4 kids on board including a 4 year old. Not a pretty site- I had slowed from 110 to about 80 long before I hit it- no warning- didn't even get my foot on the brake....
Had to find a guide rail and use the tow rope to pull the bar forward a bit.
When I complained about the damage to the roo bar to the insurance assessor a week later (and 2000klms) he laughed and said without the bar damage bill would have been 4 or 5 times higher. He also said that without 'roo bars insurance premiums would go waaay up!
I think trucksters post was entirely appropriate- that's life and if some (city) kids are shocked /offended then maybe they need to spend more time in the bush..........
Cheers one and all.
