A friend of mine is looking at one of these as an alternative to a Wrangler at Suzuki prices.

Anyone got any experience with them? Is reliability a big problem for these cars?

He's new to 4wding so isn't too serious about offroading (yet).

G'day Suzuki Viagra,Don't know anybody with an Asia Rocsta but did read a test on the vehicle in a magazine a few years. The main consensus was terribly under powered ,a huge question mark over reliability and build quality was the worst they have ever seen.God knows how available parts are and purchase of one of these could be a horrifying experience.Tell your mate to keep saving for something with a proven track record.

oh I dont like Jeeps at all, but dont even consider a rocksta to be a Jeeps Toilet sweat.

Underpowered, useless offroad, spares are hard and expensive to get...

Jeeps are actually quite good offroad from what Ive been told by others with them...

A bit of research has shown the engines and gearboxes are Mazda (probably related to B Series and Ford Courier) and that the chassis are a copy of the old Jeep made under licence.

Build quality may be average to ordinary (read typical Korean Car - eg Hyundai Daewoo and with a Japanese heart like Hyundai - Daewoo use Aussie Holden engines) but I've actually found few complaints about them on the internet other than parts availability. Knowing that the parts are Mainly Mazda helps though.....

I've heard a few reports of poor build quality with Kia Sportages (Kia distributed the Asia in Oz and UK) but from what I can see there's less bad press about the Rocsta than the Sportage.....

Underpowered - yeah - 1.8 Mazda carby engine to pull 1.6 ton.

Anyway it can't be more unreliable than his V12 Jaguar........ He still seems keen to give one a go - although I tried to get him to buy a Vitara.

He's still tossing up between the Sierra and the Rocsta - test drives this week next weekend.
