Has anyone been using this to stop the condensation under the CT mattress? Just after some feedback, bit expensive, but then it saves "Airing" the mattress out all the time.

A piece of low (60%) shadecloth works just as well, two layers if you want more airflow.
We ended up getting camper innerspring mattress from Made to Measure mattresses in Qld, it is one sided and has large vents to circulate the air.
No connection to the company just a satisfied customer.

G'day uncle and traveller2
I'm totally new to the CT game (only slept in it one night so far) so please excuse any dumb questions/comments. Please explain why one would get mositure under the mattress (wouldn't the wooden floor soak up any moisture?). And then how the hell would a thin piece of shadecloth create airflow?
Also traveller2 the mattress you bought sounds like it's something specific to CTs. What does "it is one sided" mean? How thick is it? Approx. cost?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Moose, the moisture is caused from the foam mattress absorbing body moisture and then dumping it on the under side of the mattress for some unknown reason. At $56 a sq metre, I'm willing to try the shade cloth instead of the good stuff first.I dont want moisture in the timber floor though as it stinks after some time.!Cheers

hi all
I have a CT and Roof top tent one has a timber floor and the CT has a steel floor i tried the shade cloth and did not like the lattice timber and we bit the bullet and forked out aprox $130.00 for plastic coated steel under mattress airer and we have not had any trouble since a further trick like we did in the Roof top tent was to have a mattress in a vynle cover like the hospital has then we did not have any troble with moisture under the matress

The mattress is one sided to keep the thickness down as the springs are 100mm +40mm or so of cover/quilting on one side so it will fit as most campers/rooftop tents don't have enough height for a normal double sided innerspring mattress when closed.
Was just over $300 delivered from memory.

G'day Uncle,
We have a Ultimate Camper Trailer which has a fibre-glass bed base. We suffered from on the underside of the mattresses initially and got the good people at Ultimate to fit a 2m x 2m square of that "Hypervent" stuff to the lid (at least I'm assuming that's the name of the stuff they fitted).

All I can say is "IT WORKS"!!!!!

We had it done several years ago, I can't remember how much it cost....it was several hundred $$$ at least!!! But, as they say, "Buy once, buy well"........or ....... "If you buy a quality product, price is soon forgotten".

Having had it for the past several years, you may interested to know that there is no sign whatsoever of this stuff compacting down over time......it's still as good as ever.

Cheers

Roachie
