I have been through from Musgrave to Dunbar via Dixie station and Koolatah station a few times in the past, but not recently.
As far as the road goes, it doesn't really matter what the rest of it is like if the Mitchel river is still up and you can't get across it. The bank on the Koolatah side is fairly steep and it does drop off rather quick into the water. Given the recent heavy rain in the area, the Mitchel may still be quite deep there.
Probably best to call the people at Dixie, Koolatah and Dunbar stations for more info.
It is a good drive and in the dry season an easy track.

Did that road 2 years ago in August - No problems - some nice country to see - As we got closer to
Normanton we were held up by some road trains (cattle) and the dust and bulldust was really bad.
