Have 05 ST Patrol 3.0 want to know if anyone has experience with this car putting larger than standard tyres on? If so, what problems ie. performance, rubbing, speedo is it worth doing?

Unfortunately I cant tell as I had them upgraded before taking delivery of the car - I had heard mixed reports about the performance, longevity etc of the standard Duellers so decided to get the dealer to change them over. As I said they arent much bigger so probably no noticeable impact on performance
The question of tyres and Patrols has been brought up loads of times on the following
forum so you may find some useful info there:

I know this is not exactly the same as I have an '02 and went from 265/70/16 to 265/75/16 but I'm sure the affect would be much the same. The tyres will of course fit no problem but you will notice a difference particularly in braking and mid range accelleration, particularly up-
hill. If you are at all interested in on-road performance I would not consider anything more major.

I put Cooper 285x75x17 STT and it is like dragging a trainline sleeper behind the car...
80mm lift and it scrapes on full articulation on the inside guards...No prob though..
Changed speedo by 8%...but towards the good direction... 100kmh is only showing 90ish on the speedo...
Now my car gets 13.5 litres per 100 if i drive it like a pussy or 15 litres per 100 if i drive it normal..
Weighs in at 3060kgs with not much fuel in the tank and no water on board..

Hi Kelly,
I have a 2004 3l td Auto that I have put BF's on they are 285-75-16 and I love them. The speedo is out about 10% acording to my GPS, shows 100 and Im doing 110ish, but the off road difference in great, would not go back to the standard 265-70-16. They have now done about 40ks and are still have around 50-60% wear left. Very slight rubbing under the guard off road not not enough to worry me.
Ben.
