I presume it is not in neutral and not bogged? Could be anything! Wouldn't jump to the conclusion that it's the gear box. Brings back memories of my youthful days and paddock bashing when most of the problems were not at all mechanical but rather physical, like trees, oh and one rollover, getting bogged was a common problem as was running out of fuel.
Kind regards

Bit hard to say, could be lots of things.
Check these out 1. is the tail shaft turning but not the back wheels?
2.does the ute try to move forward or back a little?
3.does the gear selector lever feel normal?
4.does the auto trans still have fluid?
5. does the car smell of burnt oil?
6.are there any squeals or grinding noises?
If I don't get back to your reply I'm sure someone else will help out. Rus.

G'day,
Get under it, drop the pan off,
check for "bits & pieces", in none found, clean the filter screen, put the pan back on ( change gasket if required ) and refill with new fluid. With a bit of luck, it might come back to life. If not, it's either a job for an auto mechanic or a right - off.
Good luck.
Bazza.

this might be a huge quess but
check that the gear selector (if auto) is connected to the gear box there is a pin that jions them together.

I had an Xf years ago, same problem, it was a screwed auto. I hope htis is not the problem, but you can pick up an auto cheap from a wrecker $150 or less.
