Hi Ruth,
Further to our discussions on Snowy's cattle drive from Turee Creek to
Meekatharra, we have obtained maps dating back to 1910-1913. In addition, we have also established the stock route is still a gazetted C class reserve.
Whilst this may sound encouraging, we still have to write to the Department of Industry and Resources(?) to gain permission.
Snowy has finished all the authentic saddles and pack gear. Turee Creek Station has agreed to supply the cattle and, we have a fully committed droving crew for August 2007.
I'm going up there in June 2006 to meet up with Snowy and the stockmen to establish the stock route on ground.
It's interesting, because there appears to be no written (historical) evidence of this stock route, apart from the fact it was connected to the DeGray stock route in some form or other.
Sorry to post this on a public
forum, but I've lost your e-mail address.
Merry Christmas and happy new year.
Regards
Kim.
