Kubota AV650 generator

Actually - the generator pictured was not there to power the boombox. The reel on the rod is actually a really small, but powerful winch.

3 screws ...... one may be idle speed, one will be high rev mixture & the other one low rev mixture. Is it diaphragm carby? May have a pinhole in it.

Thanks for the reply guys but I have it sorted. After frigging with it on and off all day I did what any self respecting 26 year old does. I rang my Daddy. He is a mechanical engineer after all. He reckoned that there would be something blocking the pin valve doohicky that is attached to the float in the carby. So I pulled the carby apart and lo and behold there is a peice of black plastic jamming the pin valve open. So once I had removed the plastic junk and put it all back together again it ran like a charm.

As for the screws I know one is the idle control as it idled up when I turned it. As for the others I didn't think it was wise to play with them now it is running sweet.

I checked the power output with my multi meter under no load and it read all over the shop for AC (I ouldn't get a good connection though) and 11.8v DC. It ran my 240v drill fine so I guess it works but I will have to load it up later to check to see if it idles up like I remember it used to all those years ago on Moreton.

So now I have a cool generator at my disposal. For the grand price of $4.50 for the replacement gaskets :-) Although I didn't need one before and can't see me needing one anytime soon. Oh well it is nice to have.
