I pulled out a late model jeep grand cherokee out of soft sand at fraser . It was bogged down to the door sills . I remember putting a shackle thru an eye at the front which wasnt rated . Attached the snatch strap and drove off in low range second . Didnt pull the front end off but i would advise to put a rated shackel front and rear .

So what does a rated shackle protect you from? What's the point if the factory won't tell you the load rating on the recovery point? And what if they did insist you only use a 3,25t shackle on their 3.25t recovery point, how are you going to measure that as you pull away with the snatch-em doing what it wants to do?

What 'someone else' has done does not make it safe! Tie down points are not recovery points. Good on you for asking the right question, shows that you at least are thinking safety. Please let us know what you manage to find out as this type of question is often asked but seldom answered.
