g'day all, I was on the beach the other day in my diesel 90m series Prado auto when I heard 3 "beep" noises coming from the dashboard area, a noise similar to a house smoke alarm. Couldnt see any warning lights on the dash and it stopped after the three tones. I was in high range in Drive without difflock engaged in some softish sand but nothing really extra dramatic. Any ideas what it may have been? (the handbook isnt much help!)

Thanks, fester.

That noise on my Cruiser indicates the fridge has shut down and the beer is getting warm ;)

I couldnt find anything about warm beer in the handbook either--commonly known as "Cape Cool" up here (without the 3 "beeps")

Fester

Does your Prado have some type of electronic stability control fitted?

My 120 series makes the same noise in the same circumstances - high range, centre diff unlocked, running in sand.

I'd assumed that the electronic stability system on my Prado was telling me that a wheel had lost traction for a short time, or that I was a little off line going around a corner.

George, yes, it has all the bells and whistles such as TRC ABS etc etc and now you mention it it was while I was doing a U turn that the tone came on, so thats probably it, so thanks for your reply.

I'm still coming to grips with this higher tech stuff as all my previous experience has been with "lock in the hubs, select high/low range third gear and theres nothing else to worry about."
