Hi,

I have purchase a set of ROH steel rims (2nd Hand) size 15x7 the only other marking on them is "TRAK 4" which I believe is a discontinued item. I'm trying to figure out if they will fit my 98 Dual Cab Rodeo.

Can anyone advise what the offset should be (and how to measure the offset ??) or is there a way to tell by ifthey will fit by fitting the rim to the vehicle ?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

I have a 1997 Rodeo dual cab with ROH Trak 2 wheels 15x7. They are a Navara offset which is what all IFS vehicles seem to need. As for how to tell if you have the right ones or not all I can think of is that with a 31in tyre fitted mine are right on the edge of the guard lip without flares. So do a trial fit and if they fit about one-two inches within the guard or so without tyres then they are probably the right offset. That might be too rough a measurement. I'll go and put a tape measure on mine when it stops bucketing down rain if no one else replies with a better answer before then.

I didn't see the Trak 4 on the ROH website so they must be discontinued as you said.

I just made a measurement of my wheels.

If you put a tape measure up against the join between the vertical part of the rim that bolts to the brakes and the part that the tyre goes on to (basically where the silicon join is. Put the tape measure on the vertical part) and measure horizontally out and sight down to the edge of the rim is about 50-55mm.

As you can tell I don't know all the techy terms but this should tell you if they are the same as mine or not. If they are the same as mine they are Navara offset which is what you should have to be legal. The wider ones stated below are not legal on an IFS vehicle. However neither are the 31in tyres I have on my rims so probably not too much of an issue :-)

jay,
7 inch rim is what is needed in an upgrade, the navara offset in 7inch, with 31 x 10.5 r15 keeps the tyre inside the guard but does rub a little in the rear but only with full articulation. i fitted toyota offset, roh trak ? which moves the tyre 25 mm out which stopped this problem, improved the "look", but i added flares for $350 to compensate.

Thanks for your quick responses !

I'll go and try the measurments that you suggested, but I get the feelling that these rims may not be the 'navara' offset ? Therefore the next question would be is it still possible to use these rims if flare guards where fitted or would it just be smarter to sell these and get the 'navara' offset ones ????

Is there any chance you could get close up photo of the wheel and guard that I could compare ?

I'll go do some measuring... back later !

Thanks again...

Peter, when you say moved the tyre 25mm out, do mean it's moved the whole wheel out 25mm (i.e the wheel over hangs the guard by 25mm but give you 25mm clearnace on the inside) and does that mean that it fixed the rubbing problem.

I have fitted the rim to my rodeo and held a straight edge against the rim up to the guard (vertically) and found that the rim sits about 10-15mm inside the guard. It sounds like these rims could be the 'toyota' offset ? Meaning i could still use these rims but may have to fit flare guards...

Any other comments would be appricated... thks

This shows the rear tyre sitting right on the edge of the guard with a 15x7 Navara offset and 31in MT/R.

In that photo it looks like it sits a little bit out of the guard but it is only the angle of the photo. I had this online already. Let me know if you need othersand I'll take them and post them here.

Thanks for the photo utemad. I'll see if I can 'eye' this out with these rims... Roughly how far out does the tyre sit from the edge of the rim with the 31x10.5 tyres ? I'm thinking I may be able to use 235/75-15 tyres to avoid installing (more like the cost !) of flare guards if these rims aren't 'narvara' offset.

From what I've read and can understand about the offset, the rims I have, have a 0mm offset ?

Thanks 1

My tyre sits approx 35mm from the outermost part of the lip of the rim to the outer bulge of the tyre.

well I did some measuring and looked at a few things today. And this is what I've come up with. I don't think the wheels are the navara offset because the rim sit about 10mm inside the guard with a tyre. I could probably fit 235/70-15 without any adjustments but to fit 31x10.5x15 I would have to install flares, but that probably wouldn't look too bad though, just more cost involved. So I'm tending lean towards selling these rims and getting the correct offset ones, however if anyone has any other suggestion, I'd be happy to hear them.
utemad, thanks for taking the time to post the pics and measurements.
peter, thanks for your info also.
