G'Day all,
Can someone tell me what size speakers are in the front doors of a 1993 Triton Duel cab. Mitsubishi were hopeless. I do'nt think the service manager I spoke with even knew they made Tritons!#%&? I'm going to buy my son a new stereo/cd and better speakers for Christmas, but need to know the speaker/hole size.
Any help guys?
Regards,
Bazza.

I don't know for sure but I would put money on them being 4 inch speakers. However you also need to make sure that the new speaker is not too deep.

Try and get some 4in splits in a good brand such as Pioneer, Alpine, Sony or various other speaker specialist brands.
Splits mean you have the main woofer in the standard speaker location and a tweeter up higher on the dash or the pillar area. They give a much better sound than having both in the standard speaker location.

Do what I do whenever I buy a present and keep the receipt :-)

Hi Capt

I think it will be 4 as well, however that does not mean you can't go to 6 or bigger. I don't know what the doors like like in 93 Triton but if it's anything like my old Lux then there was a map holder and storage for books or something. Remove that and you can buy some nice speaker pods to put some 6 inch splits in. I can only say good things about JBL and mpquad's. I was talking to a speaker guru ages ago and I was saying that I want a sony sub and speakers and he said do you like chineese music? he said those thise all get designed for the asian market...dunno if it's true or not but something worth thinking about I think. What sort of head set are you looking at getting him? I hope you are thinking one that can play MP3's? they are the only way to go these days.

Let me know if you need more help

Thanks for the responce guys.

Troll,
I'm not looking at spending too much on this, as the Triton is unregistered and only used on the farm, although it is a totally "set-up" 4by in very good nick. My son is just 13 and has reached that "head-banging", loud music stage. "It do'nt have to be good - just LOUD, VERY LOUD!"
I've not chosen any brand or model yet, but am hopeing to spend under $350 for something half decent. Maybe a high watt Pioneer or Kenwood with couple of decent 4 or 6inch three way speakers?

Bazza.

Hi the Triton ( I have a 94 ) came out with 4 inch in the top of the dash board near the windscreen and are not to hard to remove, I dont think the ones in your doors will be standard. The sound out of the dash spot give very poor sound and does not matter how good the speakers are they will still sound crap. I will guarantee no matter what speakers you get you wont be happy with the sound. I replaced the ones on mine with some out of my old ute that sounded good until I put them in the Triton. To fix this I added speakers to the front doors which are oval 3 way I think they are 9 inch. You need to go to a good car stereo shop to make sure you get the right size ( both round and thickness ) because they need go in a certain spot to miss the window gear and the window winder. I left the ones in the dash as well and turn them down slightly with the fader ( 4 way amp on stereo ). To date I have not worked out where I can fit them in the rear, just not enough room and if I put them in the rear doors you wont hear them.
