I am dropping off my Rodeo to get some goodies fitted to it one of which is a high roof canopy with 3 open up doors. When camping and leaving the truck alone for hours how do you protect gear from being stolen from inside the canopy. I think I might upgrade the trucks security and fit switches to the doors on the canopy. Any additional ideas would be helpfull.
cheers, Alex.

G'day Alex
I have heavy tint on the canopy windows. Looks good- keeps the contents a bit cooler- and the ole saying......what they can't see they can't pinch!!!

Didn't you order lockable canopy doors?

I was going to say that to stop thieves I lock the doors.
However if you want to connect your canopy doors to your alarm in your cab don't forget that your canopy is made of fibreglass/plastic so you will need to earth the pin switch.
I was going to do this with my canopy but I decided not to bother.

I think ARB come with locks on the doors, just went out to quote on an cyclops upgrade alarm with 3 pin switches it came to 510.00 fitted. The other thing I was thinking is fitting black certains with block out liner to keep eyes from looking in and keep the temp down inside.

A Doberman inside the canopy would be an EXCELLENT deterrent.

Your only serious option is to hide, or take with you, what you value. If they really want it, theyll take it whether you have an alarm or not. Fibreglass/plastic canopies have limited security value.

If they really want it they will just cut a hole in the canopy or put the car on a tilt tray.
The best option IMHO would be to put a shock sensor in the tray as
well as the cab. As I can tell you even with the shock sensor set fairly sensitive in the cab I can load my ute without it going off. This way you also do away with all the door switches and wiring. You could also use ultrasonic sensors if your alarm supports them.

No one's thought of the obvious yet.
Keep it dirty!
You couldn't see in any of my windows after I did the
Oodnadatta in the wet....
I did clean the bit up the top where the geocaching sticker is though. One day someone will ask what it means, but to date I'm still waiting....
Dave
PS The TJM side windows have flush catches with nothing to grip on to force them. The back T Handle is an issue I haven't solved yet but the local lock smith has a T handle that will fit straight in which he can key to my house key so I can lose one more key off the key ring. Haven't done that yet but I might.
