Hi all,

Is it true that Trak Shaks are made in China now? We are looking at buying one, and one of my mates mentioned something about it.

I thought he was full of it, but thought I had better find out the truth.

AFAIK , the Jury is still out.

Trak Shak recently took over another CT builder.

A Rumour was around that "someone" was having their CT's made in China.

When questioned , Trak Shak would not deny it , in fact said nothing at all.

Primus are bringing in Chinese made CT tops.

Trak shak have their canvas top units manufactured in China and the trailers locally, when they get a ocntainer load of canvas they make up the units. They will tell you that they build their campers in "batches", rather than production line like most others do.

That is why they have camping show specials - take the units as they are, no options, no changes, for this price.

Wherever they are made i bought one from the Feb show in Melbourne and it has been great for us. With two queen siiiize beds in it it is excelletn with two kids.

When i have wanted some advice or extra bits i have found the folks at Trak Shak super helpful and when saw them at the Melbouren show in October they were quite happy to have a chat with them and remebered my face.

Haven't taken it anywhere super challenging yet but i found it a very versatile rig with the ability to add or remove jerry cans etc.

As with anything there are a cople of things i would change if i designed it only because thats me, not because their wrong.

After all how many on this forum drive a 4WD drive of any make that is stock standard.

Anyway if you have more than 2 of you who will be using it then look really seriously at it, they are good value and i did a lot of research and spreadsheeted all of the features and prices and options etc etc.

Would send it to you but crashed the PC and lost it, if you wanted it that is of course.

Mark

Just another company jumping on the band wagon then. Consumers don't care, they will still buy made in china.

Agree with Rolandes comments above based on comments from a family at the recent Mt Franklin weekend for Vic Campertrailers group. They had a TS and were told exactly what Rolande reported-- made in batches, no option to change, take what is there or not at all.

OZtrail (Oz company that makes alot of camping tents) now has a camper top kit... made in China. Bolts straight onto off road box trailer.
Kit includes base board, side fold tent, awning , gas struts etc.
How do I know ... I own one ... fitted it yesterday. $2700 ... great value.

G'Day Loughma,
I know of at least two suppliers who make ct's in Australia who have complete units, including trailer, for that price
