Where, oh where is it hahaha
I changed my coolant on the weekend, with the good toyota red stuff.
I must be stupid, I could not find the engine drain plug so I just used the radiator drain plug and took the bottom hose off, then took out the glow plug temp sensor, I think all of that did the job.
But I am still curoius because in my gregories manula it shows an engine drain plug I can fin the same location but no plug, the manual have a photo of an 80 series but it should be the same??

Peter,
When ever I have had to drain the coolant I have always used the radiator drain plug, I did not know there was on the engine.

Passengers side right near the oil pressure sensor.
You will probably have to remove the oil filter to see it.
Definetely there as I have to position the oil feed to the turbo carefully to miss the drain plug when doing conversions.
Cheers

Plug is on left side directly behind the injector pump, you can get a 14mm socket
in there with an extension, shouldn't have to remove the oil filter, you'll be
surprised how much coolant comes out once the plug is removed even after you've drained the system via the radiator drain, tighten the plug to 18 ft-lb when you put it back in.

Hi Peter , this may not apply to you, but may help others .from 1998 the engine drain plug is deleted! The cast boss is still there in the engine block but has not been drilled and tapped. This applies to 100 series as
well.
Regards Ken.
