Hello All. Our camper trailer is 9 years old and the 12 ounce canvas is in top condition. Last year we were able to insure the camper (thru SGIO)but they will only insure the actual trailer this year, not the canvas, as they don't insure canvas that is over 8 years old. Is anyone able to advise us of an insurer that will cover our camper as a whole?

We're in WA (forgot to mention). TCIS only supply insurance for Camper Trailers/Caravans if you're a member of a 4x4 club or have an existing motor policy with them.
Thanks for the info.

Have got a quote from CIL. They have a representitive in each state. They didn't even ' batter an eye-lid' when I told them the year of manufacture. I think it helped that the camper trailer is already insured(else where). Price is reasonable aswell.
Someone also suggested Australian Central Credit Union & Western QBE.Yet to try them.(current policy doesn't expire til 25/8 so plenty of time to shop around.)

Success with CIL. They're not concerned with age. Quote a reasonable price too. Thanks.

thanks for the feedback. I intend to contact TCIS but am sure they will be unable to assist as they don't have presentation in WA (forgot to mention, we're in West Oz ). Have emailed CIL telling them the age of our camper. There reply was positive - I'll ring them to obtain a quote. I'll let you know the outcome.

Hi

I think you'll find the mainstream insurers (if not all) are the same, that is, will not insure canvass over a certain age.

hi, we had the same problem trying to insure our camper that is 6 years old and have found 2 places, one is through Australian Central credit union (can't remember the name of the company) and the other (the one we are now with) is Western QBE, their prices are great, they will insure the camper, annex, contence ect with out troubles. i,m in SA if that makes any differences. good luck.

Thanks for the info. CIL will insure our camper, at a reasonable price too. They weren't concerned about the age at all. I'll enquire with ACCU & Western QBE 2morrrow(existing policy doesn't expire until 25/8, so plenty of time to shop around). :)

ACCU is only based in NT & SA. QBE wouldn't insure our trailer as it's a "custom" - designed by original owner and built by a trailer manufacturer. I think they would have if we had other existing policies with them. So it looks like CIL! :)

i thought that you wouldn't have had any trouble with western Q B E, they didn't even hesitate when i got a quote, and no we didn't have any other insurance with them then. mind you our camper is a coleman camper trailer so perhaps thats the difference. just remembered that when we first bought our camper that it was insured with an insurance company that only deals with caravans and campers, i can't remember their name but i think that it might just be 'caravan insurance'. good luck any way.
