Hi all,
Was out and about this afternoon and noticed that Ray's was having one of their Sales (20% off Store Wide). At 20% their prices are just ok.
So I purchased;
Coleman Dual Fuel Stove
5 Litres Shelllite
Popup insect screen
collapsable water bucket
s/s saucepan.
Just over $300. As we were paying for the goods (feeling quite good about our purchases) and chit chatting with the cashier, she let it slip that the next Card Holders special will be at 30% off instead of the usual 22%.
So I am now feeling ripped off. I know it's only $30, but better in my pocket than theirs!
Anyway the next Cardholders Special is on Wed 27th July (Ray's Nunawading).
Happy shopping.

Welcome to the world of Raise Tent City
They call it Rays but they really mean Raise, which is what they do to their prices before they offer "discounts".
It wasn't store wide either, fridges and lots of other things weren't included.
As always, the rule is buyer beware.

Ummmm nope. And don't forget they will beat any price on anything they stock that u find cheaper elsewhere by 5%. A great Australian Company IMO.

Don't they all raise the prices before offering discounts or am I just naive???
I know we were pretty happy at our purchases over the weekend, getting one item nearly 25% BELOW what I could get it for direct from the manufacturer.
And I also know that there is always something else to buy so I will be back there with the card for the next sale......

I love looking in Rays but the first thing I do is go to the damaged goods section and
check out what stuff has been returned. Often there could be, say, five Coleman rechargeable
camp lights all with the same tag saying "won't hold charge". Then, if I was thinking of purchasing one, I bloody
well wouldn't. You soon get an idea that just because an item has a "name" it may
well be no better than going to SuperCrap down the street in the first place rather than waiting for Rays 30% sale. Rus.

Mate, buy what you need, pay what you must.
Every time I've bought something I thought was a bargain, it's cheaper in 2 days time. Particularly with computers. I've given up.
I will as you say, add things to a shopping list and wait for an opportunity like a 20% off day, then buy the things I want/need at whatever the price is. Spend more on fuel and time shopping around.
But, I suppose that's why I've never got any money.......
Smocky.
