Gday all
Today will prob be my last post in months. As some of you know I am moving to the States. Just a thank you to everyone that’s answered some of my questions and that’s provided a good laugh on some of the posts. I have one final question:
My car is going to be outside while I am gone. My brother is going to drive it every 2 weeks or so to keep everything running and lubed up. Am I best to buy a 4x4 cover to protect the paint or am I best to use some sort of polish? I have heard that the covers can scratch the pain as dirt gets in under the covers? Is there anything else I need to think of about the car
Take care and be safe on the roads
Regards,
Troll81

Troll,
But you'll only be an Internet connection away.
You can still log in and keep up with all the crap:-)))

Fair enough mate.
You'd hope you could get a car cover that big...
If not, get a cheap dooner/sheets, throw them on, and put a crazy clarks tarp over the top. The sheets stop the rubbing from the tarp.
Cheers mate,
Chris.

Have a great time in the states.
I would reckon polish would be the best because if the car is going to be driven every 2 weeks, then taking whatever cover on and off again will do more damage than the sun can in the same amount of time.
Of course the best solution would be a garage :-)
Only other point I have is that fuel goes off pretty quickly, so he's also going to have to keep running the fuel down and puttin just a few litres in, depending how long he's driving it for.
Cheers,
Smocky.

G'day mate,
Hope you can still log-on when in the states....they DO have computers over there you know....hahahaha
As for the 4x4....what about painting on some of that anti scratch stuff? I've seen it on a mate's 80 series and it's like a plastic film that you can peel off later. I reckon it would be ideal for your purposes.
Good luck "over there".

Bill, the problem with that gear is that it will begin to disintergrate after about 4 weeks and can wash off if the rain is heavey or consistant enough.
I bought 2 x 1litrebottles that will be applied just before we go away. I realise it is not worth applying to your bus as it would be over capitalising. Sorry, just had to get in before you did. lol
cheers
Des

I look after the expensive duco on the Coaster by lending it to my good EO friend in
Melbourne while I am in the States. That might work for you too.
MM me if you need a good friend in
Melbourne. lolol
Have a safe trip.
I know a bloke in Tennasee if you need anything. A Doctor, A good bloke.
Stay in touch.

Troll,
Goodluck in the states mate!!!
My best offer for protection would be one of those instant shade cloth carports you erect like a tent, I think Supercrap and others stock them. I have done the car cover thing and itsa a PITA especially if someone is going to drive it regularly and I believe they DO scratch the paint!
Enjoy the trip!
Matt.
