Hi guys took some of your advice on the ifs. I had the ifs hilux and was contemplating diff locks,
suspension lift etc. I dumped the hilux and went on the search for a good late model 100 or gu 4.2d. It was a nightmare coul not find anything decent. So I bit the bullet and bought brand new, Gu ST 4.2td 05 built so no 3k fuel bonus. But only paid 54.5k drive away, got the bullbar,
driving lights bonnet protector and towbar give away from nissan, great value considering price of late model used. I found that with the 17" rims you dont get much choice from tyre manfacturers especially trying to go up a couple of sizes. I opted for 285/70/17 BFG MT's (i think a 33" equivelent) I drove it straight from dealer to ARB to get the mods so have not had much time in it yet when I get it back I will let you know. Meanwhile any other owners of the TD4.2 has any information anything important I should know about them will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Babs

I made the move from a Hilux as
well to the Patrol and I love it...you just have so much more room in the car. The only thing I miss is the tray to put all my crap in. Maybe you should go down a rim size?? You should get good money back on your mags still as the car is still new

i checked the fowles site and didn't find a single patrol cab chas, am i looking in the wrong spot?
i'd prefer 2nd hand, don't think the budget stretches to new... don't think the price of a new one could be brought down enough for my likings

Check the build plate date on the little panel near the bonnet catch at the front for correct build date. I was told I was getting an 05 build but got a Nov 04 not happy because no bonus. Told they go by the compliance date of 05/05 so as far as they are concerned it is a 05 build, just a dishonest way to get out of not paying the bonus. And we are told salesman a now more honest than in days gone by in a pigs eye.

Had the same; sold to me back in Feb 2000 as 2000-compliance, not 1999, and they were right, the compliance plate was fixed in Aust in Jan 2000, but the vehicle was made in Dec 1999.

Hi guys
check the compliance and built dates 02/05 & 06/05 so im fine. But if they sold you a 05 and its really 04 then
check your original contract/order form if it states 05 built then your liable for some compensation, especially if you bought it while the free fuel offer was on. might be worth some investigation for yourself....
I just got
mine back from ARB, going to
test it over weekend let you know next week. Had 2"
suspension lift OME springs & shocks, looking at it I should have went another inch, ARB only goes that high anyway, plus i did not want to loose any driveability onroad especially freeway already running those 285/70/17.
Has any one got 2" OME
suspension on GU & do you get much more travell?
