Anybody used Purolator fuel filters, what's your opinion.
Have a 4.2lt GQ patrol thinking of using this make of filter, but would be interested if anyone else has used them before.

Purolater filters, if still manufactured in the USA are good products.
However I view with more than a little concern, products from USA companies that are made elsewhere. Often you have to
check carefully to find the origin.
The labour in a filters cost, is only 10% of the total cost, and so the only way you can reduce costs in a big way, is to reduce the quality of the filter parts.
Reducing the quality of the filter plate, can cause slackening of the filter tightness, with the ability to then leak.
Reducing the wall thickness of the filter can, can also cause spilting with the associated failure of engine shut down.
Reducing the amount of media, and or poor quality paper, will also mean reduced filter life, and increase injector wear.
I was under the impression that Nissan dealers do bulk discounts on filter packages.
BE SURE that any apparent cost reductions, do not cause expensive problems later.
The old story if it appears to good to be true, it actually does turn out that way.
