It me again. This time I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for outboard brackets on a relatively short draw bar on an old jayco swan camper. I want to take the outboard ( it is not huge).
Thanks Lenni

Lenni - does the Jayco have a rear bumper or bar of any sort? Much better mounting the motor there if you can and keep the ball weight down at the front....and off the draw bar.

Hmmm... then I suppose all you can do is try to keep it as rearward as possible... i.e. closer to the axle. If you do that, just try to keep the whole thing as balanced as much as you can by putting a compensating amount of weight (water or something) behind the axle to counteract it.

How big is the outboard? A little tiddler that weighs 30kg or something larger?

The outboard is a 9 hp. Not really a tiddler but not that large. What if I made a bracket that sat close to the camper on one side, on the other is the gas bottle. Is that something that could work?

As long as you had room to tilt it up for ground clearance..... nothing like using your skeg to dig ditches for the RTA..... ;)

We hang our 15hp Honda from a bracket attached to one side of the dual spare wheel carrier. Have you got room to lay it down inside the camper trailer?
Happy camping,
Mike.
